Product Description
Every added joint in a front end costs something: weight at the tip, pins to grease and monitor, and bucket force that leaks away at each articulation. The two-section layout keeps the front end to two members and two main pins, which is why it stays the default choice when the job is measured in meters of radius and depth rather than meters of height.
Our long reach boom and arm is fabricated to the mounting geometry of the Komatsu carrier it is paired with, from Q355B plate purchased from a first-class mill. The boom foot, arm head and bend sections carry extra gussets and rib plates; pin bores are machined to OEM tolerances so the set mounts without reworking the boom foot; hard lines run along the boom in bolted clamp blocks instead of loose hose runs. Pin contact surfaces are hardened to HRC 52-58 with a hardened depth of 8-12 mm, and every weld passes inspection before the set leaves the floor.
Because the set ships complete (boom, stick, bucket cylinder, H and I linkages, hoses, steel tubes and pins), the conversion is a one-crane, one-day job on site rather than a parts chase across several suppliers.
Application
A two-section long reach boom earns its place where the working face is further out or further down than the machine can safely stand. The jobs it is asked to do most.
Typical Applications:
- River, canal and reservoir dredging. Lifting silt and sand from firm ground at the bank edge, keeping the carrier off soft beds
- Coastal and breakwater works. Rock placement and rehandling along seawalls and revetments
- Highway and railway slope work. Trimming and repairing batters from the shoulder without closing the lane below
- Deep basements, foundation pits and long trench runs. Excavation below standard depth where the machine must stand back from the edge
- Material placement. Sand, gravel and concrete placed over formwork, walls or water where trucks cannot back up closer

FAQ
Q1: Why pick a two-section boom instead of a three-section for my Komatsu?
A: If the work is below and in front of the machine (dredging, slope batters, deep pits), a two-section front end keeps more bucket force, weighs less at the tip and has one less set of pins to maintain. A three-section front end is the right structure when the bucket has to work above the machine. Many fleets run both, matched to the season's jobs.
Q2: Will a 24 m boom overload my PC300?
A: The 24 m set is geometry-matched to the PC300 carrier: boom length, stick length and bucket class are chosen so the load moment stays inside the machine's stability limit. What changes is the lift chart at full radius, so heavy lifts near the limit of reach need the revised chart, not the standard one. If your work is lifting-heavy rather than reach-heavy, tell us and we will spec a shorter set.
Q3: How does a boom this size ship and get assembled?
A: Disassembled, in fumigated seaworthy packing, with the cylinder, linkages, hoses, tubes and pins packed in the same shipment. On site you need a crane for the boom sections and a normal site crew for one day. Plan road transport as low-bed freight; a 24 m section does not fold.
Q4: What wears first, and can I order wear parts later?
A: Pins and bushings carry the load, which is why their contact surfaces are hardened to HRC 52-58 with 8-12 mm depth. Keep them greased on schedule and they will outlast the paint. Replacement pins, bushings and hard lines can be ordered separately against the same drawings.
Q5: Can you build to my drawing, or match the bucket I already have?
A: Yes. Production follows your samples, designs or drawings, and the arm head can be made to suit your existing bucket or grab. Send the machine model with the pin diameters and we will come back with a matched set.
